Australia's famous painter, sculptor, scale modeler, writer and editorial cartoonist Norman Lindsay (Norman Alfred William Lindsay) was born on 22 February 1879 in Creswick, Victoria. It was the fifth child of his parents, Robert Lindsay, an Irish surgeon, and Jane Lindsay. At the age of 16 years, Lindsay left for Melbourne and has worked as an illustrator for the local journal, the "Hawklet. He married Agatha Catherine Parkinson in the city of Melbourne on 23 May 1900. They had three children, Jack, Raymond and Philip, and Divorced 1918.

In 1902, Rose Soady, who later became his second wife, she began modeling for Norman.
